You can also get a train, if you arrive at New Street it is a 5 mins walk to Moor Street.. you cant miss it! Once your at moor street there is a train to Solihull (will most likely say Dorridge as the destination check it goes to solihull) every 20 minutes, it will take about 13 mins to get there. As for a train pass, yes you can although i am not sure if it involves signing up for more than one month, you can check this at nationalrail.co.uk.
