TNT 737 Crash Landing at Birmingham UK

Here is video of the ‘TNT’ 737 crash-landing at Birmingham Airport (EGBB)
This landing happened after the aborted attempt at Nottingham East Midlands, where the right main undercarrige was ripped off and took out the flaps on the right wing. The aircraft is presently sitting on the unused runway at Birmingham Airport and can be seen from the golf course nearby. (So my cousin informs me!)
Filmed by a news helicopter that was in the area and handed over to the local Police and Investigation Team, this is probably the best footage of an incident like this I have seen.

    100% true, the …
100% true, the airline industry has a saying. “If you think safety is expensive, try having an accident.” although there obviously was already an accident, a few thousand dollars worth of foam prevented a much larger one. im not exactly sure how much the foam costs but if its anything like de-ice/anti-ice fluid it would be a good 5-10 grand spray.

    It looked more like …
It looked more like a cargo plane, not a passenger plane. At the end of the video, you can see a ladder near the cockpit door. The pilot already got out, probably.

  • KillerFirefly7 says:

    maybe because those …
maybe because those yellow firetrucks are shooting sperm at the plane to put out a potental fire.
    there were sparks afterall.
    :P

    As someone who has …
As someone who has used foam at the request of the tower I can 100% garauntee that the Airport Fire CFO WOULD care about the wasted foam. “Foam that is not put on fire or fuel is wasted.” If there is fuel leaking then by all means spray foam.

im 100% sure no one …
im 100% sure no one gave a about the wasted foam

  • MortalTodd says:

    I imagine they …
I imagine they sprayed all of that foam due to the massive amount of sparks from the landing.

  • 111vinnie says:

    Nice job by the …
Nice job by the pilot. If you watch he actually keeps it straight down the centreline then at the end turns slightly off centre to keep the effected wing downwind of the fuselage. Just how he was trained. A lot of wasted foam considering no fuel was leaking and no fire?
