What are the most reliable condensing gas boilers?
I’m having a new central heating system installed into our 3 bed semi. What are the best models/makes of A rated boilers for reliability?
For reviews try goggleing ‘condensing boiler reviews’ tried this for when looking for our new TV and it brought up some good sites, also try the ‘Which’ magazine web site. Then see below for getting a good tradesman.
This applies to any trade you are wanting. Try web site called checkatrade, typed into any search engine will bring it up. Then type in your post code, so you get the ones local to you. All the people on here have been vetted, checked out for certificates, right qualifications and insurance etc and open to further monitoring. On the web site you can read other customer comments etc and the ratings of the companies. Checkatrade collect all their customer reports themselves and the companies do not see them.
So this is about as near as you’ll get to avoiding the cowboys.
Still get a couple round for quotes though.
Have used the site often and always been happy with the people selected.
Can I use combi boilers to heat one family house?
Anyone knows what would be appropriate combi boiler configuration (type/model/number of units) to provide heat for 3000 sq ft home? I am planning to have one zone for the first floor, one zone for basement and 4 zones (one for each room) on second floor.
Thanks.
Your best bet would to sit down with an installer. You can have as many boilers you want to heat your house, but would it be cost effective. You can split the upstairs with the downstairs. (basement, first floor) on one boiler, and second floor on the other. I’ve been in the heating Business for 32 yrs, and only seen a few houses with two boilers.
Personally, I would just go with one boiler, and zone off the rooms/levels.

Do industrial boilers run 24 hours a day?
I am writing a paper on pollution and would like to know if industrial coal burning boilers run all day.
Thanks.
Yes, Boilers used in the Utilty industry may run for up to a year without coming off line. Maintenace outages are scheduled and the boilers will be taken out of service for maintenance or upgrades usually one time during the year unless some problem developes.
what is the law on electric boilers servicing?
I have anelectric boiler that has never been checked, i want to know how often it should be checked and what are the dangers of not doing the servicing.
The laws on this type of thing vary from state to state, and even county to county.
If your really concerned about it, your best bet would be to call a plumbing and heating service in your area and make an appointment to have them look it over.

Back Boilers are they energy efficient or is it time to replace with a brand new one?
I’ve just my Gas bill in which is way to expenisve for the last quarter, (i appreciate in the winter it would be) However, is this because I have a back boiler on my living room gas fire & this probably many years old?? (i’ve only lived in this property for the last 10months) so i dont know the full history, but generally is it worth getting rid of this boiler?
Turn it off for a billing cycle and see how much it adds to your bill, then you can decide what to do with it.
Do Ferroli combination boilers need to be reset button after its been cut off from mains electricity?
i have a ferrolli ‘optima’ combi boiler which was cut off from mains electricity. I cannot seem to relight it, as i’m getting no "spark" to light to pilot light. i do not want to pay for an engineer out if it is something as simple as ressetting it.
mains electricity is on, and i cannot understand why i’m having this problem
if it does need reset, how do i go about this?
I’m hoping this URL will be of some help. don’t know your model number, but I would bet they all work the same way.
