How can I make my home kitchen into a commercial kitchen?

I know this will be a big project, but would like to know specifically what I’d need to do. I live in San Diego, CA. I’ve also read through the gov’t and dept of health sites which give information, but I don’t find it particularly helpful enough to know exactly what I’d need to do. (Kitchen would be used for baking and possibly soups.)

Anyone know this info or where I can find detailed info about this? Thanks in advance!

not sure about CA as I live in ND but here I needed to contact my local county Health organization. talk to the people who give out the licenses for kitchens and restaurants. they are the people who have all the info. that way it will save you a lot of time since you will get it right from the horses mouth so to speak. good luck. our local guy came to my home. I showed and explained what I wanted to do and he told me the way to do it. how to convert the garage into a separate kitchen and work space as inexpensively as possible. he was a huge help.

Should kitchen floor cabinets be screwed to the wall when installing? We just finished installing the wall cabinets. The floor cabinets are level. We have shemed the cabinets. Any suggestions? Do we need to wait until we have our counter tops installed?

Remodeling a kitchen – how long did it take, how much did it cost?

My husband and I want to remodel our kitchen and would like to plan for the time and costs. How long did your kitchen remodel take and were there unexpected expenses you hadn’t counted for that came up? Were you happy with the outcome of the kitchen based on what you spent?

It took 3 months….. we did it ourselves and it cost 27,000$ Canadian….

Unexpected expenses: wiring that was no longer any good, having to buy more tiles, redoing the floor base to make it smooth for the new tiles (because pulling up the old ones ruined the floor underneath) and having to make a new countertop instead of just being able to relaminate the old one (the wood underneath the old laminate was rotting).

Yes… very happy with the outcome! We have just sold the house… paid it 133 500.00$ just over 5 years ago…. just sold it for 279 500.00$… I’d say that definitely covers the cost of the kitchen renovation!

What color would you paint the kitchen cabinets to go with green granite?

We have a small kitchen so we do not want to go dark, and right now our cabinets are a light wood color but their is no contrast. We just installed new slate tile floor in the kitchen so now we are stuck with ugly cabinets. HELP?

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. What is the proper size for kitchen island light?

I am remodeling my kitchen and I will be having a 4 foot by 6 foot kitchen island. I would like to to have 2 or 3 light across pendant lighting installed above it. What is the rule for how big (height and width) it should be? Also, how many inches above the island should the lighting be?
I also would like to know has wide the lighting should be to go over a 6 foot island that will have a bar.

at least 2 feet from the bar to the light.. and with that size.. i think you should only get two unless your getting a bar because you want one light at one end one in the middle and one over the bar..

What degree do kitchen designers have that work at Lowes/Home Depot?

I’m a graphic design student at the moment and work at Lowes minimum hours at the moment as a cashier. I heard one (maybe more) of the kitchen designers has a graphic design degree though.

This confuses me but I’m interested in learning more about this since I’ve been given the opportunity to work in that area. I thought they would have needed some sort of interior design degree?

I just wanted to find out some info before I go into work next time so I appreciate any help.
