As you are using "C" I’ll assume you are not in the U.S. Most boilers here have a small control unit attached to the outlet pipe at the boiler that allows adjustment of the maximum water temperature. Mine is set at 180 F. and the boiler will stop firing when that temp is reached. When the boiler starts on a cold winter day the outlet water pipe is cold, but soon begins warming, and then becomes so hot you can’t hold your hand on it. On the coldest days the boiler temp (there is a gauge) reaches about 180 F. Most days it does not as the home is warmed before the boiler reaches max temp. If your boiler is "short cycling" (on and off, on and off), you need a heating technician to determine the cause.

If it is seaworthy it will in all likelihood be sold either here or abroad. Another possibility is that it could be donated to a merchant mariners school lilke Texas A and M. It could also be scrapped, or sunk to be the foundation of a reef. Don’t worry, it won’t go to waste.
