What is the best way to find a good reliable plumber? I don’t know of a good plumber,Any suggestions,ideas?

do you think that I could get a free estimate of what they might have to do to get it fixed?
don’t EVER ask the supply house for any sort of contractor. they may recommend a contractor that owes them money in hopes to get paid . especially in tough economic times .go by word of mouth and ask for references .

Ask some of your neighbors which plumbers they’re happy with. You also might be told "Don’t get John’s Plumbing, the guy doesn’t know what he’s doing."

Ask around to Friends in the area and when you start hearing the same name give them a call

If it’s above floor, not in the/under the slab, why not do it your self?You can buy the tools and parts at any Walmart, Home Depot, etc. You can buy the How to do it? books also! You have to be able to "see" what you are looking at {the problem}, how to remove the faulty part and replace it, just like you took the old part off. If it fell off and can’t see how to replace it, look at another such item in your house or a neighbors. Take your time. You have to cut the water off, at the floor, or outside at the main cut off.Good luck!

i would check with friends and also look for names in your community paper that list that they are licensed and insured, make sure you see their license. if it is a big job and not an emergency you could also ask for references
